DEF TURNED INTO THE COMPETITION FESTIVAL – 29. Dny evropského filmu

DEF TURNED INTO THE COMPETITION FESTIVAL

Originally a film showcase, this year it is transformed into a competitive festival! The main competition will focus on debuts, and we will also offer a competition section for music films.

DEF is all about quality and exclusively European films, confirms DEF dramaturg Šimon Šafránek: “Music, sounds, movements… I see a great emphasis on the musical side of things in the programme. Whether it’s Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’s original compositions for the nature film Snow Leopard, the cascade of sounds in the directorial debut Phantom by musician Para One, or the modern trap in the rapper’s tale Lovely Boy.Teenage themes resonate in the free-spirited comedy Miss Viborg, as well as in the breezy drama Youth Topia or the sharp wish for Happy Birthday, Chiaro.

There are also plenty of films dealing with mysticism in the programme, from the ufologist’s society in Sacred Soul, to the heroines of Clara Sola and Saint Emma’s to the lighter dimension of worship in the comedy Tralala with the popular Mathieu Amalric.

The main part of DEF will take place in Prague from 6 to 10 April, in Ostrava from 7 to 10 April and in Brno from 8 to 12 April. Echoes in the regions will continue until 13 April. More information can be found in the current press release.
