We’re taking off in a week – 29. Dny evropského filmu

We’re taking off in a week

For the 29th year, DEF – Days of European Film has been offering audiences high-quality, exclusively European films. The main part of the DEF will take place in Prague from 6 to 10 April, in Ostrava from 7 to 10 April and in Brno from 8 to 12 April.

Originally a film showcase, this year it is transformed into a competitive festival. “Music, sounds, movements… the programme of this year’s DEF is explicitly musical! Whether it’s Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ original compositions for the nature film Snow Leopard, the cascade of sounds in the directorial debut Phantom by musician Para One, or the modern trap in the rapper’s story Lovely Boy,” says DEF dramaturg Šimon Šafránek on the selection of films, adding: “The festival will open with the Danish comedy Miss Viborg.

Marianne Blicher’s debut is a brightly coloured and fiercely unconventional look at a sleepy small town. It’s a stunningly fresh tale of an unexpected friendship.” DEF is returning to cinema screens – and as the visuals suggest, with a phoenix born from the ashes, it will be in full force!
