Dear movie fans,

The last two editions of the European Film Days festival, like many other cultural events, were held in a limited mode due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although covid-19 has still not completely disappeared, and we are currently very much affected by the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the related aid to people fleeing the war, I am happy that in these still difficult times we can at least once again attend film shows, theatre performances or concerts in person. Culture has the power, among other things, to make us think different thoughts and distract us for a while.

The European Film Days are already a traditional event that still maintains a high standard of quality and has been a stable part of the rich cultural offer in the capital city of Prague for years. Every year, the festival offers interesting European films that we would not otherwise have the opportunity to see in the Czech environment. That is why I am looking forward again to the novelties that the organisers have prepared for us during this year’s 29th edition. I wish all the viewers a pleasant experience.
